| I had an idea today. I'm not sure if it would work or not, but I was thinking of doing a Gnomz roast. If you don't know what this is, a roast is held by people for someone, usually a friend or an associate, in which everyone gets up and says a few jokes about the roastee. The roasters (the people on the dais) also get joked about. The jokes can be crude and vicious, but it's all done in fun, and at the end of his set, the roaster usually says something nice about the roastee. At the end of the roast, the roastee does his rebuttal, roasting the people on the dais. The point is NOT to roast someone who's universally, or even widely hated, but somebody who's liked and has some foibles that can be pointed out. My only reservations are that we may not know enough about each other to do a roast, and I'm hesitant about roasting or doing jokes about people under 18. That being said, I think the best format would be a metaBD. I would be the emcee, or depending on what people want, I could be the first roastee if somebody else wants to be emcee. Just off the top of my head, some of the people I would include would be Entropic Praada boinky Hatter insert pulse heartagram Che familyguy Allegria rednecks sir_sweet M_Dickson Chocotof vader achiever If your name is NOT on the list, you are not necessarily excluded. | By the power vested in me by myself, I hereby declare Entropic_Catalyst the first victim, uh, Guest of Honor. So far, definites are: MDickson heart vader insert sweet I'm unsure about Hatter Che Chocotof (because you didn't definitely say yea or nay.) We could do it with eight people. For this one in particular, I'd like to get boinky back, and Praada. And it would be nice to get some more estrogen on the dais (rednecks? Allegria?) Start writing your jokes NOW. (Remember to write jokes about me and the other people on the dais, too.) As soon as I firm up the names of the roasters, I will post the running order (who's first, second, etc.) The format is, I will come out and make some opening remarks, and then introduce the first speaker. Then, after he is done, I will introduce the second speaker, and so forth. At the end, Entropic will get to do a rebuttal. In real life, roasters write jokes on the fly-- jokes about the Guest of Honor or people on the dais that are inspired by another joke at the roast. This is fine, but I don't want to delay things too much. Black tie is optional. | ||

If you mean how long does the routine have to be, it's better to have a couple of killer jokes than a lot of mediocre ones. As for rules, there aren't really any. It's no holds barred against Entropic, or me, or anybody else on the dais. Writing material for a roast is a different discipline. Try to set aside some time each day between now and then to write, even if it's fifteen minutes a day. I will post some links to roasts here and maybe you can get some ideas. | ||

It's getting late here and I don't see those guys around yet, so I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow to wrap things up.
